What is Super Turmeric Powder?
Super Turmeric Powder is everyday haldi powder from Hathi Masala. It’s made from the dried, whole haldi roots sourced from the trusted farms across India. The main active compound in turmeric is curcumin, which gives your dal a warm golden colour and your sabji a warm, earthy flavour. Super Haldi contains 2-3.5% curcumin, which is perfect for daily cooking haldi. It gives your dish a clean yellow colour and a fuller, balanced flavour. This is one of the spices most Indian homes use multiple times a day without thinking.
Sourcing and Origin
Hathi Masala sources whole turmeric roots for Super Haldi Powder from the trusted farmers across India. Each harvested batch is tested for curcumin content, colour profiles, dryness/moisture levels, and purity before acceptance. Batches that don’t match the required standards are rejected before processing.
As Super Haldi is used every day in large amounts in Indian kitchens and by cooks, consistency from batch to batch is one of the most important qualities it must deliver. Every pack of Hathi Masala Super Haldi should taste the same.
Why Cryogenic Grinding Matters for Super Turmeric Powder
Whole Turmeric contains essential oils that carry its fragrance and the curcumin compound responsible for its colour. Both of them are heat-sensitive. During Traditional grinding, heat is generated by friction. This heat evaporates the essential oils and breaks down some curcumin compounds. That’s how the haldi you purchase has already lost much of what made it good.
Hathi Masala is a cryogenic spice brand. They grind dried whole turmeric using cryogenic technology, cooling it to -150°C with liquid nitrogen before grinding. At that temperature, the essential oils and curcumin compound crystallize and lock into each particle. The result is a haldi powder that smells earthy and warmer when you open the pack, and adds consistent colour and flavour to your dish without adding extra to compensate.
How to Use Super Turmeric Powder in Your Daily Cooking
For Dal: Mix 0.5 teaspoon into water while pressure cooking, or add directly to the tadka. The super haldi will give your dal a beautiful yellow colour and a mild, earthy flavour, highlighting the entire dish.
Sabji (Vegetable Curry): Add a quarter to half teaspoon of super haldi in pre-heated oil before adding vegetables, or use it in the onion-tomato base. This haldi will distribute evenly, giving the entire sabji a uniform colour without any raw turmeric taste.
Curry and Gravy: Add 0.5 teaspoon haldi to the onion-tomato paste. It releases its colour into hot oil, so adding it early in the cooking gives your gravy a deeper, richer look.
Rice and Pulao: Add a pinch of haldi to the water before adding the rice, or to the masala while making pulao. It gives the rice a warm, golden colour and a mild flavour that pairs well with any side dish.
Marination: Apply a bit of super haldi on fish, chicken, or paneer before cooking. Turmeric helps reduce the fishy smell in the meat and gives it a nice yellow colour.
