Uses of Hathi Masala Turmeric Powder in Daily Indian Cooking
Turmeric goes into almost every Indian dish, yet it’s the last anyone talks about. It improves the flavour and gives a warm yellow colour. It gives curry a better colour, makes dal look rich, and adds colour to biryani rice without making it spicy.
An evening ritual, the one your dadi probably swore by. Half a teaspoon of Haldi stirred into warm milk with a pinch of black pepper and a spoon of honey. Not a trend. Just something that has been working in Indian households for centuries.
Pick out our Selam Turmeric for a deep golden colour in curries and biryani. If you want the most curcumin per spoon, and the best haldi doodh you'll ever make, Rajapuri is the one. And to be honest, Super Turmeric does exactly what it says, pure haldi at everyday prices.

About Hathi Masala Turmeric Powder
One of the most adulterated spices is Turmeric. Starch, Metanil yellow, they look convincingly golden in a packet. Which is exactly why we knew that our haldi needed to be different.
We specifically source each Turmeric variety, Selam from Salem, Tamil Nadu. Rajapuri from Sangli, Maharashtra. Our Turmeric Powder doesn't settle for average quality; it celebrates origin: We use Sangli turmeric for strong flavour and high curcumin, and Selam turmeric for bright colour and aroma.
Why Do Hathi Masala Choose Cryogenic Grinding?
Regular grinding generates heat, which can affect the quality of turmeric. It evaporates the natural oils that give turmeric its aroma and reduces the amount of curcumin, so the colour fades before it reaches your kitchen.
Hathi Masala uses India’s first and largest cryogenic technology. In this process, the Turmeric was cooled to -150°C using liquid nitrogen before grinding. This helps volatile oils crystallize and lock into each particle. The result is turmeric powder that smells fresh when you open the pack. Gives better colour with less quantity, and keeps its curcumin for a longer time.
Quality You Can Trust
Every batch of Hathi Masala turmeric powder goes through a quality process.
Our turmeric is sourced from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Each batch is tested for curcumin percentage, moisture content, and microbiological safety before it ships.
We are ISO 22000-certified and FSSAI-licensed. Our manufacturing facility in Rajkot, Gujarat, has been running since 1952. Every unit is machine-cleaned, steam-sterilised, and sealed without direct human contact.
Benefits of Hathi Masala Turmeric Powder in Your Everyday Diet
The science behind haldi isn't folklore. Curcumin, the compound that gives turmeric its golden colour. It helps reduce inflammation, works as an antioxidant, and supports immunity.
Using Turmeric in golden milk during illness isn't a coincidence. It comes from years of traditional use, which science is now starting to explain. Curcumin isn’t well absorbed on its own; add a pinch of black pepper, and absorption can increase by up to 2,000%. That’s why traditional golden milk included it.
Storage tip: an airtight container, away from heat and light. Sealed packs last 18–24 months; use within 12 months of opening for full curcumin potency. Always use a dry spoon to keep the moisture away.

Frequently Asked Questions: Turmeric Powder
Q1. What is the difference between Super, Selam, and Rajapuri turmeric?
Super is a pure, clean everyday turmeric for dal and sabzi. Selam has more curcumin and produces a deeper golden colour, the one chefs prefer when the dish needs to look as good as it tastes. Rajapuri has the highest curcumin, making it the best choice for health-focused use.
Q2. Which Hathi turmeric has the most curcumin?
Rajapuri Turmeric, 5-7% curcumin per batch, every lot is verified by lab testing. Selam sits at 3–5%, and Super at 2–3.5%. If you drink haldi doodh daily for health, or use turmeric specifically for its anti-inflammatory properties, Rajapuri is the one.
Q3. How can I check if turmeric is pure at home?
Without mixing, drop a teaspoon into cold water. The adulterants dissolve quickly, instantly turning the entire glass a brilliant yellow. Pure turmeric slowly settles and gradually tints the water golden.
Q4. What is cryogenic grinding, and why does it matter?
It's a process that chills the spice before milling. Regular grinding produces heat that evaporates the natural oils and reduces curcumin, so the aroma and colour are lost. Cryogenic grinding keeps both, so Hathi turmeric smells fresher and gives better colour.
Q5. Why is Hathi Masala called a cryogenic spice brand?
Hathi Masala grounds its turmeric powder using cryogenic grinding at low temperatures. Traditional grinding methods can generate heat, reducing quality by affecting natural essential oils responsible for colour, aroma, and flavour. Cryogenic technology helps retain and crystallize these oils, resulting in turmeric that is more potent, aromatic, and high in quality.
Q6. How do I make haldi doodh (golden milk) at home?
Warm dairy or plant-based milk. Add half a teaspoon of Rajapuri or Selam turmeric, a pinch of black pepper (it increases curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%), and a spoon of honey after removing from heat. Drink warm before bed.
Q7. Are all Hathi Masala turmeric powders lab tested?
Yes. Every batch is examined in the laboratory. We are ISO 22000 certified for food safety and comply with FSSAI regulations. Testing looks for purity and metanil yellow, a toxic, illegal dye that is one of the most common adulterants in Indian turmeric.
Q8. How should I store Haldi Powder to maintain curcumin potency?
Airtight container, away from heat sources. Always use a completely dry spoon. Sealed Hathi packs stay fresh for 18–24 months. Use within 12 months after opening for full colour and potency.
Q9. Can I use Haldi powder on my skin?
Yes, mix it with yogurt, honey, or besan, apply, and rinse to help reduce acne and improve skin tone. For best results, use high-quality Rajapuri Turmeric Powder and do a patch test first.
Q10. Why does Rajapuri Turmeric Powder cost more?
Because it has a higher curcumin content, the key compound behind its colour and health benefits. It is grown in regions suited for this quality, and sourcing premium-grade turmeric is slightly expensive.
Q11. How much turmeric should I use in cooking?
For a dish that serves four people, use half to one teaspoon. About half a teaspoon is needed for Golden Milk. You only need a quarter teaspoon of Dal.
