India is an agricultural country. Agriculture and its allied activities act as the primary source of livelihood for more than 80% population of rural India. It provides employment to approximately 52% of labour, and its contribution to Gross Domestic product (GDP) is between 14 to 15%. For the country’s administrative forces, striking a balance between its agricultural and industrial sector while encouraging a sustainable future has always been a task. For the same, various laws too have been enacted. However, despite numerous laws being enacted for the groundwater management needs of the country, indifference towards its implementation has been serving.
At a time when it is necessary to maintain a limited amount of water amidst the development of the Industrial Revolution, "Hathi Masala", a pioneer in the field of spices for years, has taken a determined step towards water conservation and purification by setting up a Sewage Treatment Plant (commonly known as STP). A Sewage Treatment Plant eliminates harmful contaminants in the most economical manner complimenting a healthier environment.
Hathi Masala’s Sewage Treatment Plant was installed following Pollution Control Board of India’s regulations and approval at their factory in the year 2019. The Plant is fully automatic, and 90 lakh litres of water gets processed and purified by the company yearly. Notably, the company provides this purified water to various trusts and organizations free of cost. It is used for watering trees as well as watering garden plants. Hathi Masala has pledged and is committed to watering 5 lakh trees through this plant.
Sewage treatment is the process of removing contaminants from waste water. Using internal mechanisms, a sewage treatment plant works by breaking down solid waste to produce a cleaner and more environmentally friendly effluent. In the STP chambers, a pump airs the waste and encourages friendly bacteria to condense the organic matter which further breaks down and purifies the result. STP is a proven superlative technology which helps safeguard the environment and improve safety aiding the maintenance of standards for emission of pollutants set by the government.
The company believes in working today for a better tomorrow, and is actively contributing for the same through various means. The company also provides and uses the purified sewage water when there is a shortage of water due to low rainfall. Also, the sewage plant is installed following Pollution Control Board regulations and approval.
